Cake for Breakfast? I’m Listening!! 🎂🎂
If you have a couple ripe bananas sitting on the counter, this is your sign to use them.
This Chocolate Banana Protein Cake is somewhere between banana bread, baked oats, and cake... in the best way. It's soft, chocolatey, naturally sweet from the bananas, and has 13 grams of protein per serving.
AND it's also ridiculously easy to make.
Mix everything in one bowl, pour it into a pan, and bake. Make a batch on Sunday and you've got an easy breakfast, afternoon snack, or something sweet waiting for you all week.
What You'll Need
2 cups quick oats or oat flour
2 scoops Max Effort Protein, whey or plant
2 tbsp cocoa powder
1½–2 ripe bananas, mashed
ÂĽ cup egg whites
½ cup unsweetened applesauce
1 tsp baking powder
ÂĽ tsp baking soda
Pinch of salt
¼–½ cup milk of choice
Optional: chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or your favorite add-ins
Optional: Stevia or sugar-free sweetener, to taste
Quick tip: Quick oats will give the cake a little more texture, while oat flour will make it smoother and more cake-like. Both work!
And How to Make It!
Preheat your oven to 350°F.
Add all of your ingredients except the milk and optional toppings to a bowl and mix until everything is combined.
Slowly add the milk until you've reached a cake-batter consistency. The exact amount you need will depend on the protein powder you're using, so start with less—you can always add more.
Fold in chocolate chips, nuts, or whatever else sounds good.
Pour the batter into a greased 8-inch square baking pan or divide it between individual silicone baking molds.
Bake for 25–30 minutes, let it cool slightly, and enjoy.
That's it. One bowl, a few basic ingredients, and you've got protein cake ready for the week.
